Wenhaston Millennium Map - Panel A1

  [Back to Main Map]
Peter Harold Wright V.C. - The outstanding bravery of Peter Harold Wright V.C. is recorded in regimental records and in records kept by his widow, and by his brother Nelson who lives in the village. A photograph of Peter is proudly displayed in the Village Hall. Peter's family lived at Old Hall, Wenhaston, which previously was one of the homes in the village of the Becker family (see panel C4).

Camping and Caravanning - The tributary of the River Blyth which runs in the valley between the parishes of Wenhaston and Thorington is bordered by marshes and meadows which in summer are host to campers and caravanners. The camp and caravan site at Wyncroft Farm has a farm shop (sadly this has closed since the map was made) which also supplied the village with fruit and vegetables.
